Jake Hadix

VP, Hedging and Strategy

Jake is the Vice President of Hedging and Strategy for MP2 Energy and brings over 19 years of broad based experience in the energy industry.  Jake has worked throughout the energy industry value chain including petroleum engineering, management consulting, risk management, and power and natural gas trading. 

Prior to joining MP2 Energy, Jake spent four and a half years trading a power and natural gas portfolio at Bear Stearns and JPMorgan where he was instrumental in making markets and helping customers in the western region of the U.S. manage risk through unique strategies and solutions.  Jake also worked on several large structured transactions, including one in which Bear Stearns/JPMorgan acquired the assets of a large power marketing company, which resulted in the addition of 4,000 MW of natural gas-fired generation tolling contracts into the company’s California portfolio.  Prior to JPMorgan, Jake spent five and a half years working at Calpine Energy Services, starting out in the power and natural gas risk management group where he gained a deep understanding of both risk management and the commodity markets.  Jake then moved to the power and natural gas trading desk where he managed Calpine’s forward power and gas portfolio for the western region, which consisted of over 7,000 MW of power generation throughout the WECC.  Prior to Calpine, Jake spent 2 years working as a Management Consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers where he worked with a variety of energy clients on mergers and acquisitions as well as implementing risk management programs and educating clients on the use of derivatives to hedge risk.  Prior to that, Jake spent approximately 5 years working in various petroleum engineering assignments for Sonat Exploration Company.

Jake holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Rice University.
